Coined by Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Big Bang Theory), this simple, concise, and powerful law aims for an increase in harmony and respect within a professional organization. It can be applied when speaking with coworkers, performing code reviews, countering other points of view, critiquing, and in general, most professional interactions humans have with each other. ### Linus's Law
[Linus's Law on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linus%27s_law)
> Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow.
The law was formulated by [Eric S. Raymond](https://www.wikizeroo.org/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly9lbi53aWtpcGVkaWEub3JnL3dpa2kvRXJpY19TLl9SYXltb25k) in his essay and book [The Cathedral and the Bazaar (1999)](https://www.wikizeroo.org/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly9lbi53aWtpcGVkaWEub3JnL3dpa2kvVGhlX0NhdGhlZHJhbF9hbmRfdGhlX0JhemFhcg), and was named in honor of Linus Torvalds.
A more formal statement is:
> Given a large enough beta-tester and co-developer base, almost every problem will be characterized quickly and the fix obvious to someone.
Although it is referred as a "[mantra](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantra)" of open source movement, it can be also considered during any kind of software development. More code reviews, more static analysis and multi-diciplined test processes will make the bugs more visible.
